Standard Radio Saturday

We've a very special broadcast for this weekend's Standard Radio - and a special guest providing the saturday soundtrack.

Steo started off as an MC under the alias of Konchus Lingo. A chance meeting with a beat maker named Boc introduced him to another MC called Mr Dero. On a cold Sunday afternoon in a shed in Raheny the three met up to jam, sparks happened and the Infomatics were born. Having gained respect from people inside and outside the world of Irish Hip Hop, The Infomatics played shows supporting the likes of Nas, De La Soul, Naughty By Nature, Immortal Technique, The Jungle Brothers, Lupe Fiasco & Saul Williams to name a few.

Their debut album, Kill or Create, received critical acclaim and saw them elbow their way into the music writers and bloggers ‘Best of’ lists of 2008. After a spot in the Irish TV Show ‘The Raw Sessions’, they were crowned Sony Ericson Artist of the year in 2009 and were the first Irish Hip Hop act to make the cover of the Hot Press.

Known for his lyrics in the band it was, and is, little known that Steo was behind some of the beats from the Infomatics catalogue - Standout tracks like ‘Wake up’ ‘Lost Soul’ & ‘New Era’ produced under the alias of Jeeves Blackfield.

When Steo passed on a beat tape to Drum n Bass producer, Zero T, he was asked where “that vocal sample” came from. The “sample” was a recording of his own voice and another avenue opened up for Steo. As a featuring artist, Steo has worked with some of the pioneers and innovators in Drum n Bass. He has worked alongside Calibre, Artificial Intelligence, Zero T, Need for Mirrors, Beta 2 & Lenzman and has had releases on Metalheadz, V Records, Dispatch, Integral and CIA. The list keeps growing. Steo’s back catalogue proves just why he is a respected and sought after artist in Drum n Bass.

Steo is also the resident MC for Spectrum DnB, and radio host for their show on RTÉ Pulse every Sunday at 10PM GMT.

So, this saturday we're turning the whole Standard Radio show over to Steo, who's coming with a special exclusive mix of his own productions, from start to finish.

Don't miss this one. It's a case of expect the unexpected.
