Suggestions:
The Blenheim in Montpelier: Small strange old mans pub run by someone's nan. Jukebox stuffed with brilliant lovers rock and rocksteady. Not trendy, busy or posey but worth stopping in for the late '70's/early 80's vibe.

Rooted Records on Gloucester Road: Record shop. As good as you're going to get. Peverelist works/worked there.

Most record and charity shops are worth a dig. The musical culture of Bristol is unique in these islands.

Drink Gem during the day. Nice ale that doesn't get you wasted.

Drink Cider. Try not to get into too much trouble.

The Bank Tavern on John Street was a pretty sound boozer. Good booze, no frills or posers. I seem to remember a friendly barman, decent music and mindbending cloudy cider.

There's another legendary pub with the landlord's coffin in the bar that people have written all over. Can't remember the name (see above) but it's a bit of an institution.
