Ikonika - Phonelines VIP

Well, finally that day has arrived, and the VIP is available - as a free download on XLR8R. At the time I first heard it, it was a real tonic, a tune with progression and pressure amidst the build-drop-and build again template that was solidifying all around it. Listen below.

Lift Off

The Standard launch is next saturday night. My missus knocked these up during the week, and myself and Bob plastered a few around yesterday - I reckon the design expresses the music policy visually; dark but colurful, harmonic, melodic and sensual.

And only 7 yoyos damage on the door, a bargain in Dublin these days.

To hear the sort of stuff I will/may be playing at the launch, don't forget to tune in tonight.

Duncan Powell - Care For Me (Whistla Remix)

Earlier in the year, an EP from Duncan Powell entitled 'Push' was popping up on Myspace and on a few forums; a summery garage affair that appeared in winter. You can still download it for free from his blog, which is a diary of sorts he keeps to promote the EP, and the remixes which keep on coming. My favourite is Whistla's take on 'Care For Me'.

You can download it, and the rest HERE.

For anyone outside Dublin you can catch the livestream.

Show repeats Monday at midnight GMT 13/07/09.

The Infomatics Are Better Than You

The Infomatics slew the competition tonight on the Raw Sessions - not a hard task really, and we are thankful for once it was a public (though pricey) vote, rather than a panel of Dublin's 'rawk' illuminati. My missus was at the gig on friday last, and told me the lads dedicated 'Let Me Fly' to Luni - tonight, after the winner was announced, the credits rolled by to the sound of his collaboration with Damien Dempsey on the 'Patience' refix. RIP.

Big respect is due to Dez Ryan for putting it together, he of the foxy beard and leather jacket; he's come into some flack from the aforementioned hipster drones of Ireland's bulletin boards; all I can say is - fuck the begrudgers. Fair play to the man for getting up and doing something while you wasters sat in Grogan's comparing vintage converse and Electric Picnic anecdotes. This was a victory. End.

Major Grave - Oh Boy (Instrumental)

First of July already, and some freshness to start the day (or, if like me you're just in from the graveyard, to end the night)- a Grime instrumental from one of my favourite producers on this small island, Major Grave. Its good to see he's pulling the proverbial finger out, along with Konspiracy, and getting some new rhythms done and dusted. More to come soon too, keep an eye/ear out on Three Piece Meal for updates.
