We had a thoroughly enjoyable bilingual session down the studio last night; DJ Gon brought a stack of old school garage to add to mine, making a tasty hour and a half of full moon bump 'n' swing to finish this most miserable of months. Out to the Italianos.

Standard Saturday

Our good friend DJ Gon will be joining me this saturday night at 9pm on Raidio Na Life for Standard Radio.

We'll either go on a back to back endeavor, or I'll just let the lad get on with things. I don't think he'll be playing any of his own productions on this one, as we're having a strictly vinyl square-up. I've an inkling that the flavour is going to be very much old school garage and two step.

Dubculture

Galway's Dubculture have launched a blog to keep all on the west coast up to speed on gigs and releases. To mark the occassion, here's a track from the crew's Phonetik - 'Near', an Alex Reese-esque softly stepping number - expect some releases from the label in the coming months.

Last Night 23/01/2010

After four hours of sweaty sleep, empty bellies and pounding heads were the order of the day Saturday. Still, we all made it down to the studio and tried to battle through, but eventually the shakes got the hold of our fader fingers, and the dirt and grime on our vinyl battled with the M477's for groove domination.

In other words, it's a bit of a messy one this week - starts fairly stable but then the DT's kick in. Back next week in a more subdued, sober and pink elephant-free broadcast. *burp*

AllCity Past, Present, And Future Showcase - Mixed By Om Unit

Dublin's AllCity - what can we say. Trooping along a long time providing cd's and vinyl to Dubliners and visitors alike, along with a vast variety of paint and accessories for the aspiring writer; when we were young we had to tea-leaf them from petrol stations, in those heady days before self service and cctv - no need for that type of messin these days. The shop itself has become something of a mecca for the good stuff, with many's a legend and local hero blessing it with their presence. No doubt you're aware of their record label too; they've been putting out consistently tasty 12s, 7s and CDs these last few years, and with more to release this year, they've enlisted Om Unit to compile whats been and what's coming. Last Night 09/01/2010

Here's the first show of 2010; Bob and myself were joined by Major Grave as the blizzard turned the city into a pedestrianised Austrian postcard, and people were out building snow-things by the side of the almost car-free streets. We reckon it was a particularly nice selection of vinyl last night, starting in the 80s, with occassional forays into the 90s and the last decade before settling somewhere on Grime - do have a listen below.
