STANDARD @Le Cirk

As you may have gathered from the hulking great picture at the top of the page (thanks @jinnyjoe), our once-monthly night STANDARD at the Melody Bar has moved across the river to the basement of Le Cirk on Dame Street, Dublin 2(entrance to the basement is around the back on Dame Lane)..

There are at least three big reasons to celebrate:

1) We're there every second friday from 3oth October,
2) We have the pleasure of Worries Outernational's VOID Sound,
3) Its FREE entry!

Standard resident DJs Konspiracy, Halfdutch, Sub One and myself will be in attendance from 9pm till late, playing the best of the ukfunky, dubstep, grime and garage. We do a radio show every saturday night too if you're curious.

Hopefully its the start of some good things for the coming year.

Do drop in, everybody is welcome.

Last Night 25/10/2009

Once again, here's last night's broadcast on Raidió Na Life. Suffering through (suspected) swine flu as it pissed down outside, and mumbling away in barely coherent urban Irish, we managed to hold it together. 45 mins of housey vibes from Sub One followed by 45 from me in the more grimy garage vein. Thanks to all who sent shouts in/got shouts out. Back again next week at the same time.

Naphta - Democracy Now @D.E.A.F.

Two years in the making, Naphta's long awaited 'Democracy Now' is finally here. The hour long work (check HERE) can be heard this friday night at a special launch in Filmbase Dublin as part of D.E.A.F. 2009.




Ten euros will get you in to the launch, along with a couple of beers, and most important, the album itself on spanking double vinyl for all who attend. There will be a Q&A with the man himself for afters. See you there.

Hip-Nós

Having debuted at the Axis on saturday night last, Hip-Nós, a night of Irish roots refracted through the universal prism of Hip Hop, comes to Vicar Street tomorrow night.

The show is dedicated to, and will open with footage of the late Daniel McDonnel's Hip-Nós performance from last year.
