Standard Radio Saturday

It's Standard Radio time once again, and for tonight I've dug in to the recent past for most of my selection, which I'll be beaming across to Dublin from the relative comfort of the 40 degree heat of South East Asia, holographic style. Expect the odd wobbler, as this mix will be of the kind we used to play in Dublin circa 06 - 08. Major Grave will be on the mic as he grapples with the native tongue...

The show runs from 9PM till 10.30

Dublin listeners - lock on to 106.4 FM

Listeners outside Dublin can also tune in live on the web.

All times are GMT...

Amen Ra and Double Helix on Phatbeats Radio 2008

Okay, I know this has been up on YouTube since 2011, and it was recorded in 2008, but the sheer lack of views shocked me a bit, so here it is for the many of you who weren't aware of it. 2012 is their year, so we salute The keepers Of The Light in a time of great darkness, now more than ever. As the video description puts it, 'before anyone knew', here's Amen Ra and Double Helix with a set of purely LHF dubs (as they were then) back on the 17th of November 2008 on Phat Beats Radio.

DJ Code Money - Live in Dublin, Ireland - October 1986

Just uploaded to YouTube today courtesy of DJ Mek - this was the year zero of Hip Hop performance in Ireland, as DJ Code Money took to the turntables onstage at Dublin's SFX on a cold Hallowe'en night back in 1986 alongside the legendary Schooly D. Put your Filas on.

DJ Narrows - Saved Soul (GetMashUp Re-Edit)

"The trademark dark 4x4 DJ Narrows anthem returns: Re-mastered and re-edited dance floor destroyer. 'Saved Soul' is the definitive track of 2001 that changed UKG and the roots of bassline, grime, dubstep and underground dance music. Big respects to Narrows' DJ friends, ravers and music fans for supporting this pioneering sound and a DJ/Producer 10 years ahead of his time..."

Ghost'n'Jay - 2 Innocent

A blast from the past; the early 90's to be precise - Ghost'n'Jay's Irish Hip Hop classic '2 Innocent' finally makes it to YouTube; those who remember the case of the Tallaght Two two decades back may remember this one.
